I Scream, You Scream, We All Love Ice Cream

It has been a great week here at the Hudnells as we were able to have Davis with us for Sunday evening through Wednesday lunch while Julie & Reggie went to a church event near Toledo, OH. Davis stayed busy the entire time playing with the toy trains, building the Legos, having stories read to him (with him completing many phrases from memory), playing his toy violin, throwing frisbees, showing us his knowledge of colors, counting, repeating everything that we said, watering plants, swinging under the deck, riding his tricycle, and just being the perfect grandchild. I was able to spend a couple of hours with him - man to man - on Tuesday evening while Mom went to her symphony rehearsal in Charlotte. He and I had a chance to talk about world politics & negotiations ("you have to eat the pasta before having the yogurt"), the pro sports ("you cannot throw the frisbee in the water"), NASCAR ("you cannot ride your tricycle in the street"), and space exploration (the many details in Goodnight Moon). I believe we are getting very, very close to the famous Gub story-telling time. I had to say "goodnight" to him on Wednesday at the Chik-Fil-A off Peacehaven Ext where I met him and Mom. And unfortunately, I had to compete with the chicken nuggets, fruit and ice cream for his attention - I believe they won. But then I do like my daily prescription of ice cream too. We had a great time together...
